Not the Good Kind of Pain

Ow. Just... OW.

I've been doing well with my workouts... getting along just fine, but today, the "Straight Up Strength" class I took really took me out. And I'm not talking about, it was so hard I couldn't get through it, I'm talking like, my knee pop SO bad during certain portions and it hurt so bad that I almost left and I don't leave classes. It made my eyes water at one point, and I am pretty tough when it comes to pain. This wasn't the good kind of pain.

I felt like my workout wasn't good, (even though it was probably fine) though I try to live by the saying, "The only bad workout is the one that didn't happen. So, feeling that way, I decided to push myself further, despite my knees hurting. So, naturally, I did the best type of exercise of a hurting knee--- I hopped onto the treadmill.

Oddly enough, once I started moving, my knees didn't hurt as bad. I did a walk/jog combo, and while I wasn't going for a good time, I improved my previous "best time" by quite a bit. My best mile, a couple weeks ago, was 14:28, today, it was 13:26, that's a 00:58 improvement. Awesome!

When I left the gym I felt okay, but now that I am home and sitting both knees feel warm to the touch and are very sore... not the good sore. I guess I'll see how I feel in the morning!

Just When You Think You Can't Go On... Push Just a Little Further...

WOW, I didn't realize how long it had been since I updated.

The good news is that I haven't been updating because I've been busy and content working out. Not because I gave up.

Tomorrow, Sunday 8/12/12, will mark the END of my 6 weeks... not that I am ending there, it's just been 6 weeks. That is SIX WHOLE WEEKS that I have stuck to a fitness plan and diet lifestyle (eating) change plan. That is HUGE for me.

I am VERY fortunate to have some AMAZING instructors at the gym, most of which have been very helpful and encouraging. That has gotten me through, all the time--- it's the little things that push me along.

An old friend (who I use to cheer with at COS!), who is also an instructor at my gym posted this photo a little while back:

THIS photo gets me through as well. Every time I am in a class (because, I've taken to only going to classes for now) and feel like I can't do another rep this is what I think to myself... "Just think-- if you just finish this rep you'll hit your goal sooner and think of how great you'll feel a week from now..." (or a month or a year)...

ALSO--- 6 weeks ago my BEST time for "running" the mile was 15:48. For 6 weeks I've been doing zumba, R.I.P.P.E.D. and a couple other various (and similar resistance training classes). Today, after my Muscle Blast class I was feeling good and decided to see how long it would take me. I "ran" the mile in 14:27. HECK YES!

Just remember--- when you think you go on... push just a little further.

Until next time...
